COVID-19: Curfew at 6 p.m. in the Var from Tuesday, January 12 – L’Etat dans le Var

In the Var, the curfew is brought forward to 6 p.m. from Tuesday, January 12.

This Saturday, January 9, the incidence rate in the Var department has largely crossed the threshold of 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and may increase further in the coming days. The positivity rate remains high and the pressure on hospitals is strong.

In this context, after consulting the elected officials of the department and the main representatives of the economic world, the prefect of the Var has decided to advance the curfew to 6 p.m. from Tuesday, January 12, 2021.

The objective of the curfew is to limit gatherings during which barrier gestures are less well applied where the virus circulates quickly while limiting the impact on the economy already strained by the epidemic.

As of Tuesday January 12, in the Var, outings and trips will be prohibited from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. under penalty of a fine of € 135 and up to € 3,750 in the event of a repeat offense.

Exemptions are provided for :

- go to the doctor, for medical reasons (care that cannot be provided remotely, for example),

- go to the duty pharmacy or hospital,

- for professional or academic reasons (leaving work or higher education establishments for example),

- for travel by plane or train (the ticket being proof),

- for compelling reasons, for assistance to vulnerable or precarious people or childcare,

- to get to a close dependent,

- for the movement of people with disabilities and their companions,

- for judicial or administrative summons,

- for participation in missions of general interest at the request of the administrative authority,

- to take your pet out within a radius of one kilometer.

For any travel between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., as of Tuesday, January 12, everyone must bring a certificate of exceptional travel with the documents that will justify this trip. It is possible to download the certificate from the Government website, that of the Ministry of the Interior and on the All Anticovid application or to copy it on free paper.
