The number of Covid cases continue to increase in Lyon. While we have been talking for a few weeks about the arrival of a seventh wave and the possible implementation of new measures, the indicators are red and confirm this scenario.
In less than 15 days, the incidence rate doubled
On June 27, the incidence rate in the Rhône, i.e. the number of contaminations per 100,000 inhabitants over the last 7 days, was 862. On June 14 it was 385 and a week later on June 21 it was 571.
In France, the average incidence is 824. The Rhône department is therefore slightly above the national average.
As of June 27, 25.8% of the tests carried out were positive with 1999 daily cases.
10% of resuscitation beds occupied
Despite the sharp increase in the number of cases, the situation in the department’s hospitals is not yet alarming. As of June 29, 19 people were in intensive care, i.e. 10% of the capacity of hospitals in the Rhône. 316 people were hospitalized due to Covid.
Between June 23 and 29, there is an average of 1 death per day.
Wearing a mask in closed places is again recommended
In a recent videoconference with the prefects and directors of regional health agencies, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne asked to encourage the wearing of masks “in enclosed spaces”, in particular public transport.
A simple recommendation, for the time being, which raises fears of a return to restrictions.
