The number of contaminations Covid-19 is still on the rise in Pays de la Loire. The fault with the BA.2 variant. The regional health agency notes it: the epidemiological indicators show more active circulation of the virus since early March in all departments. The regional incidence rate in the general population again exceeds 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. It stood at 1,072 and rose by +40% over seven days, the ARS said in a press release. A third of screening tests are positive.
Here are the incidence rates in the departments: Loire-Atlantique, 1,032; Maine-et-Loire: 955; Mayenne, 1,284; Sarthe, 1,048; Vendée, 1,221. The positivity rate varies from 40.7% in Mayenne to 31.9% in Loire-Atlantique.
The two Vs, vigilance and vaccination
The ARS calls for the greatest vigilance: get tested at the slightest doubt, isolate yourself if you are a confirmed case and, in all cases, respect barrier gestures. It also emphasizes vaccination to reduce the risk of complications and transmission of the virus, in particular the second booster for the most vulnerable people.
The vaccination campaign for the second booster (“fourth dose”) was launched for people over 80 and residents of nursing homes. Immunocompromised people can also benefit from this second dose.
Vaccination is open to all children aged 5-11 and the ARS recommends it for those suffering from chronic pathologies.
