Nearly one million adolescents, between the ages of 12 and 17, have not yet received the third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, reported the director of Immunizations of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), María Elena Martínez.

He said that the third, one million boys and girls, who are between 5 and 11 years old, have not been applied either.

“Now what classes begin in 2023, they must be protected against Covid-19. We ask parents to take advantage of the fact that their children are on vacation to accompany them to complete their doses, ”she commented on TV. Peru.

Vaccine against covid-19 for children

Martinez also said that more than half a million minors, between 6 months and 5 years, have not yet received the two doses of the vaccine against Covid-19, which corresponds to them.

For this reason, he recalled that, during the pandemic, 400 boys and girls died from this disease because they did not have the vaccine at the time of their death.

“We invite parents to immunize their children against Covid-19, as part of the regular vaccination schedule that includes vaccines against measles, diphtheria and polio,” he said.

Currently, this population group receives the modern pediatric vaccine in two doses.
