The epidemiological situation is improving in the Brussels Region and the indicators are down, notes the Cocom this weekend.
Thus, the capital region has the lowest positivity rate in the country: 22.4% against 33% last week. The R coefficient of contagiousness goes down to 0.63. This means that the virus is circulating less and less among the population. As for the incidence rate (number of positive cases per 100,000 habitats over 14 days), it halved in one week: 1,774 on Friday against 3,410 on Friday of last week.
The situation is however far from perfect in hospitals, warns the Cocom. 467 people with Covid were hospitalized last week compared to 623 the previous week. While a quarter of intensive care beds are occupied by covid patients. A proportion that is struggling to decrease: 73 beds this week against 70 the week of February 11. Finally, 42 people died of Covid this week in the Brussels region.
Adaptation of testing and vaccination capacity
The positive evolution of the situation encourages the Cocom to adapt its “testing and vaccination policy”. Concretely :
– The Bracops test center in Anderlecht will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
– The one in Molenbeek will no longer be open on Saturdays from February 26, 2022
– That of Saint-Josse will only open on Mondays and Thursdays from next week and then will close completely from March 14, 2022.
