Covid-19: Brazil accounts for 254 more deaths and 22,380 new cases in 24 hours – News

With this update, the country now totals 162,269 deaths and 5,653,561 cases of infection with the new coronavirus since February, when the first patient in the country was identified.

However, these figures are partial, because the Brazilian Ministry of Health’s computer system continues to present “technical problems” since last Thursday.

Today’s bulletin lacks updated data for the states of São Paulo, Amapá and Mato Grosso do Sul.

The figures on people who have recovered and on patients being monitored are yet to be updated.

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 1.2 million deaths in more than 49.3 million infection cases worldwide, according to a report by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December in Wuhan, a city in central China.
