SAO PAULO, May 15 (Xinhua) – Brazil reported 2,087 more COVID-19-related deaths on Saturday, bringing the country’s death toll to 434,715, the health ministry said.

At the same time, 67,009 new cases were detected, for a national total of 15,586,534.

Brazil has the second-highest death toll from COVID-19 in the world, after the United States, and ranks third in number of cases behind the United States and India.

The South American country is experiencing a new wave of epidemics, which has led to an increase in cases and deaths as hospitals are overwhelmed with patients.
