COVID-19 and Influenza Vaccination Campaign in Hidalgo: Schedule, Doses, and Target Population

PACHUCA DE SOTO, 29 OCT/NEWS HIDALGO/.- On October 16, the Hidalgo Health Secretariat (SSH) began vaccination for the winter season, which will end on March 31, 2024, as reported by the head of the agency, María Zorayda Robles Barrera.

As part of this strategy, the quadrivalent vaccine (H1N1, H3N2, Linaje Victoria and Yamagata) is used in all institutions that make up the Health Sector, and the established goal is 913,553 doses. Simultaneously, the biological Abdala is being applied against Covid-19.

At the moment, 225 thousand doses of influenza have been received in Hidalgo for the start of the winter season, and it is expected to have 100% of them in the first week of December. Likewise, 129,690 doses of the Abdala Covid-19 vaccine have been received, which were distributed to health units.

In these units, vaccination is offered permanently during the campaign, during the usual opening hours, while, in municipal capitals, some of them offer service on weekends.

It is important to note that Acute Respiratory Diseases (IRAS) are one of the 10 main causes of death in Mexico. In particular, influenza represents a serious risk to the health of girls and boys between 6 and 59 months of age, older adults, as well as those with comorbidities, as well as chronic conditions, cardiovascular diseases, people living with HIV and patients in treatments that cause temporary or permanent immunosuppression.

The population to be vaccinated against Influenza includes:

Girls and boys under 5 years of age. Older adults. Pregnant. Health personnel. People with: HIV, diabetes, morbid obesity, COPD, asthma, heart disease, heart disease with prolonged consumption of salicylates, cancer, kidney failure and immunosuppression.

The population to be vaccinated against Covid-19 includes:

Girls and boys over 5 years of age who do not have a complete vaccination schedule against Covid-19. Pregnant or postpartum women who are more than 6 months after receiving their last dose. People over 60 years of age who have received their last dose more than 12 months ago. Health personnel who have received their last dose more than 12 months ago. People aged 5 to 59 years with the following comorbidities (more than 12 months after receiving their last dose): HIV, diabetes, morbid obesity, COPD, asthma, heart disease, cancer, kidney failure, immunosuppression, essential arterial hypertension.
