Despite the fact that the WHO declared that covid-19 does not constitute an international health emergency, but taking into account the epidemiological alert on the increase in consultations for influenza-like illness issued on April 17, 2023, and the increase in covid cases -19 in health personnel, the National Program for Prevention, Surveillance and Control of Hospital Infections recommends the use of masks in health establishments.

In the specific case of health workers, the use of surgical masks, N95 or its equivalent, is required, especially when in patient care areas.
In sectors where there is no direct patient care or handling of biological samples, the use of masks is optional, although it is also urged not to neglect this aspect as a preventive measure.
Likewise, to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, it is recommended to wash your hands frequently with soap and water, or with 70% hydroalcoholic solutions, get vaccinated against winter diseases, in order to reduce the risk of suffering from serious conditions, ventilate the closed spaces (at least 10 minutes every hour), clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces.
