A stabilized situation in the hospitals of the region, this is what underlines the last report of the Regional Health Agency (ARS) d’Occitanie Tuesday January 5, 2021.
Stability in hospitals
Since the start of the Christmas holiday period, the number of hospitalizations has hardly changed in Occitania. On December 22, there were 1236 people treated in hospitals and clinics in Occitanie. They are now 1258.
At the same time, the number of people in intensive care has decreased from 145 to 131. Some of these people have unfortunately died.
Between December 22 and January 5, 146 people died from the coronavirus in Occitanie, including 27 in Haute-Garonne.
“The epidemic indicators remain at a still high level”, nevertheless notes the ARS.
The circulation of the virus accelerates in the working population
In Occitania, with 113 cases per 100,000 inhabitants over 7 days, the incidence rate remains below the average incidence in France, which stands at 143 for an alert threshold set at 50.
The reproduction rate, an important element to characterize the evolution of the epidemic in a territory, is at 0.98 and remains below 1, a threshold beyond which the authorities believe that the epidemic is progressing …
The circulation of the virus nevertheless tends to accelerate in certain age groups as shown by the incidence rate in Haute-Garonne.
This is particularly the case among people aged between 20 and 39, as shown in this graph of Covid Tracker.
