A new mutation was added to those causing the appearance of the English, South African, Brazilian variants and the 20,000 others more or less benign. This was detected in New York and was revealed by two American studies published on February 23 and 25. They testify to the appearance of a new version of the Sars-Cov-2 virus, which would represent around 27% of the viral sequences identified in New York, up 12% over the past two weeks.
This variant is therefore gradually spreading and worries the American authorities while another, the Californian one, is spreading around the world. The New Yorker is said to be particularly resistant to certain vaccines thanks to a variation in the protein “Spike” and “like the South African variant, this one seems to bypass the antibodies that we produce to protect us from the virus “, explained on BFM TV epidemiologist Philippe Amouyel.
