Covid-19: a high school closes its doors in Dijon after the discovery of two cases

A high school in Dijon (Côte-d’Or) suspended this Monday all of its activities and courses after the confirmation of two cases of Covid-19 among the staff. The Regional Health Agency (ARS) explains that a first positive case was reported in a teacher from the Hippolyte-Fontaine high school on June 19. On Saturday, a second case among the administrative team was detected.

“As soon as these cases were confirmed, the ARS and the services of the rectorate began the investigations in order to identify all the people who may have been in close contact with these staff. As a precautionary measure, courses and activities are suspended ”, specifies the agency. In recent days, the school has welcomed a hundred students.

Contact persons at risk were put in isolation for fourteen days and carried out tests. The students and families were not at risk contacts, but were informed of the situation and of the possibility of also carrying out tests, according to the ARS. The pupils “were not in contact with people currently in their fortnight,” she said.

Multiplying cases

More and more schools are closing due to the emergence of new coronavirus cases in recent days.

Last week, two schools were closed in Paris. Other similar situations, sometimes with only a class closure and not the entire establishment, have occurred in Ile-de-France as in Créteil (Val-de-Marne), in Villeneuve-la-Garenne (Hauts- de-Seine) or in Eaubonne (Val-d’Oise).

In Vigan, in the Gard, in addition to the closing of the schools, all gatherings are prohibited by the municipality due to the appearance of an infectious focus of Covid-19.
