COVID-19: A first case at New York City FC

New York City FC announced Thursday that a member of its sports staff has COVID-19. This is the first case of coronavirus in the organization of Major League Soccer (MLS).

The person concerned has not been identified. The New York training, however, said in a press release that she felt good. After experiencing mild symptoms, she is now in quarantine.

MLS announced earlier today that it was delaying the resumption of operations by eight weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic and new measures banning mass gatherings.

“We will continue to be vigilant and work closely with our medical team to keep our community safe, healthy and well informed,” said Brad Sims, president and CEO of New York City FC.

“We don’t believe our supporters or members of the public have been exposed, but information sharing is vital right now so we will continue to be proactive in providing updates.”
