Covid-19: 63 new cases and two deaths

Dakar, July 13 (APS) – The Ministry of Health and Social Action said Monday that it had identified 63 new cases of coronavirus bringing to 8,198 the total number of confirmed cases since the onset of the disease in Senegal on March 2 .

These 63 new infections come from 710 virological tests carried out over the past twenty-four hours, said Dr El Hadj Mamadou Ndiaye, director of prevention, during a press briefing on the Covid-19 pandemic in Senegal.

Fifty follow-up contact cases were identified by the health services, which counted 13 contaminations caused by community transmission.

The cases of Covid-19 caused by community transmission have been identified in Bignona, Diamniadio, Dieuppeul 3, at the HLM Grand Médine, in Liberté 6 Extension, Mermoz, Ouest-Foire, Passy, ​​Thiaroye, Rufisque, in Patte d’Oie , at Parcelles Assainies and at Sicap Amitié.

Sixty-eight patients were tested negative and declared cured, and another 34 are being treated by hospital resuscitation services, added Mr. Ndiaye.

He announced two new deaths in the past twenty-four hours.

To date, Senegal has 8,198 positive cases of coronavirus, of which 5,514 have been cured. One hundred and fifty patients died, and 2,533 others are on treatment.
