On the occasion of the press conference on the action of the state in the prefecture, in the middle of last week, Joris Jonon, the director of the Regional Health Agency of Lot-et-Garonne, spoke about the health situation .
“There is a clear decline in viral circulation”. This introductory sentence of the remarks of Joris Jonon, boss of the regional health agency in Lot-et-Garonne, is reinforced by the figures revealed on this occasion.
The circulation of Covid-19 is in “clear decline” in our department. “The incidence rate is 28 per 100,000 inhabitants”, revealed the head of the ARS. Although it is slightly higher than the regional average, it is well below the national average which is 35 per 100,000 inhabitants. Especially since this incidence rate continues to decline in Lot-et-Garonne. At the start of the week, the incidence rate is 24 per 100,000 inhabitants.
1 in intensive care
Another indicator goes in this direction, that of the positivity rate which pointed in the middle of last week to 4.3% (against 5.2% for the New Aquitaine region). At the start of the week, this indicator continues to fall. It is now 3.7% for Lot-et-Garonne.
According to figures on the government.fr website, as of February 21, 17 people were declared positive for Covid-19 for that day.
This now weak circulation of the virus is also confirmed for medical care. “This represents 0.76% of emergency room visits”, details Joris Jonon.
This tension is also less at the level of hospitalizations. In the middle of last week, 14 people were hospitalized in a Lot-et-Garonne establishment. “They have been for Covid-19 or tested after hospitalization for another reason”, notes the Lot-et-Garonne director of the ARS. Only one person was admitted to the intensive care unit last week.
3,315 people hospitalized
Since the beginning of the epidemic, 3,315 people have needed to be hospitalized to treat their infection with this virus. 476 people were taken care of in an intensive care unit adapted to this pathology of Covid-19.
During this press briefing, questioned by the local press, Joris Jonon revealed that “468 people had died from Covid-19” since the start of the epidemic almost three years ago. This figure corresponds to people who died in hospital. The death rate is 14.1% for the Lot-et-Garonne department.
