Covid-19 was found on the farm last week, and since then more than 1.2 thousand infected animals have died there, and another 600 mink have been destroyed.

In order for the company to receive compensation for the disposal of mink, a state of emergency has been introduced in Jonava district.

Four workers have been infected with Covid-19 on the farm, but several more are in self-isolation.

It is already reported that in early November in Denmark the authorities decided to dispose of all farmed minkto prevent the spread of new viral mutations, which in turn jeopardized the effectiveness of the forthcoming vaccination.

Covid-19 has been found in mink in five more countries – the United States, Italy, Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands.
