COVID-19: 3,565 new cases are reported

The Ministry of Health reports that the new confirmed cases at the national level increased by 35.7% in the last week, while in the last 14 days there is an increase of 64.4%. Furthermore, no region has reduced its cases in the last seven and only one has done so in the last fourteen days.

The case report for this Sunday, March 12, records 3,565 new cases of COVID-19, with a positivity rate of 14.15% in the last 24 hours nationwide, with 18,936 exams, PCR, and antigen tests. The daily positivity in the Metropolitan Region is 15.85%.

Of the 3,565 new cases, of which 69% are diagnosed by antigen tests, 23% originate from active case finding (BAC) and 8% of those notified are asymptomatic. As for the Metropolitan Region, it has 62% for antigen, 25% for BAC and 5% of the reported cases are asymptomatic.

According to sampling, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are O’Higgins, Antofagasta, Los Lagos and Biobío.

Meanwhile, the Aysén region presents the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Atacama, Los Ríos and O’Higgins.

According to today’s report, of the 3,565 new cases of COVID-19, 2,472 correspond to symptomatic people and 225 do not present symptoms. In addition, 868 positive PCR tests were registered that were not notified.

The total number of people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the country amounts to 5,203,532. Of this total, 10,472 patients are in the active stage, considering isolation for 5 days from the onset of symptoms or from the completion of the test, according to the Opening phase criteria. The recovered cases are 5,106,771.

Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS), in the last 24 hours, 10 deaths were registered due to causes associated with COVID-19. The total deaths amount to 64,311 in the country.

Until yesterday, 87 people were hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 62 remained with mechanical ventilation. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 339 critical beds available for patients who require them, regardless of the region where they are located.

Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, yesterday the results of 18,936 PCR and antigen tests were reported, reaching a total of 48,630,711 analyzed nationwide to date. The positivity of the last 24 hours at the country level is 14.15% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 15.85%.
