COVID-19: 26 more cases in the Quebec region

The Quebec region experienced a slight respite from the number of cases identified on its territory Sunday. In the past 24 hours, 26 cases of COVID-19 have been added to the report.

Thirteen of the 26 new cases are in Quebec, while the other half are on the South Shore, in Chaudière-Appalaches. The previous day, 29 cases had been reported in the region.

Good news, however: no new deaths have been reported across the country.

The CHSLDs have also been spared since Saturday. No resident was infected.

The only exception is Jeffery Hale Hospital, where there are five additional cases, for a total of 59 users with COVID-19.

Seven nurses and six attendants came to assist in this outbreak. It has not been ruled out that additional reinforcements are necessary in the coming days in the establishment.

“It is certain that currently with the teams in place and the volunteers who came to help us, we respond well to care and services, but it is always fluctuating with needs over time”, explains Brigitte Paquette, assistant President and CEO at Jeffery Hale Hospital.

The call is made to nurses, licensed practical nurses and attendants who would like to join “the collective effort,” says Ms. Paquette.

An effort that is welcomed by public health, but which recalls that it will take three to four weeks before finding a semblance of stability.
