Covid-19: 21 positive cases in an EHPAD in Colomiers

After a first campaign of tests, on January 6 and 7, which made it possible to diagnose four positive cases of Covid-19 among the residents and one among the agents of the Residence Émeraude Anne-Laffont, an EHPAD (establishment for dependent elderly people) de Colomiers, a new test campaign was organized on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 January. This second phase made it possible to identify 10 new cases among the residents and 11 among the agents. The agents concerned were placed on sick leave, pending further tests.

Residents diagnosed positive are welcomed in a Covid-19 unit of the establishment, which has a dedicated team of caregivers and staff, who do not intervene with other residents of the structure. In addition, the municipal nursing home is supported by the ARS (Regional Health Agency) of Occitanie and by a mobile team from the Toulouse University Hospital.
A new test campaign is scheduled for Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 January. The Émeraude Anne-Laffont residence remains closed to visitors for the moment. “I give my full support to the director, staff and residents,” says Karine Traval-Michelet, mayor of Colomiers. “I know how complex the situation is for families who do not have the opportunity to visit their loved ones. I want to assure them of our full mobilization ”.
