The Ministry of Health reported that new confirmed cases at the national level decreased by 0.8% in the last week, while in the last 14 days they decreased by 11.9%. In addition, seven regions reduce their cases in the last seven days and fifteen in the last fourteen days.
The case report for this Sunday, February 19, records 1,585 new cases of COVID-19, with a positivity rate of 8.3% in the last 24 hours nationwide, with 11,739 exams, PCR, and antigen tests. The daily positivity in the Metropolitan Region is 8.2%.
Of the 1,585 new cases, 68% are diagnosed by antigen test, 22% originate from active case finding (BAC) and 8% of those notified are asymptomatic. As for the Metropolitan Region, it presents 63% by antigen, 25% by BAC and 7% of the reported cases are asymptomatic.
According to sampling, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are Biobío, Metropolitana, O’Higgins and Los Ríos.
Meanwhile, the Los Ríos region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Atacama, Biobío and Ñuble.

According to today’s report, of the 1,585 new cases of COVID-19, 1,117 correspond to symptomatic people and 92 do not present symptoms. In addition, 376 Positive PCR tests were registered that were not notified.
The total number of people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the country reaches 5,149,301. Of this total, 4,514 patients are in the active stage, considering a 5-day isolation from the onset of symptoms or from taking the test, according to the Opening phase criteria. The recovered cases are 5,060,301.
Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS), in the last 24 hours, 18 deaths were registered due to causes associated with COVID-19. The total number of deaths amounts to 64,085 in the country.
As of yesterday, 91 people were hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 77 remained with mechanical ventilation support. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 312 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are located.
Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, yesterday the results of 11,739 PCR tests and antigen tests were reported, reaching a total of 48,338,534 analyzed nationwide to date. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 8.3% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 8.2%.
