COVID-19: 1,428 new cases reported – Ministry of Health

The Ministry of Health reports that new confirmed cases at the national level decreased by 12.3% in the last week, while in the last 14 days they decreased by 35.3%. In addition, eleven regions have lowered their cases in the last seven days and all have done so in the last fourteen days.

The case report for this Sunday, February 5, records 1,428 new cases of COVID-19, with a positivity rate of 7.93% in the last 24 hours nationwide, with 11,312 exams, PCR, and antigen tests. The daily positivity in the Metropolitan Region is 7.55%.

Of the 1,428 new cases, 65% are diagnosed by antigen test, 25% are caused by Active Case Search (BAC) and 11% of those notified are asymptomatic. As for the Metropolitan Region, it presents 59% by antigen, 31% by BAC and 9% of the reported cases are asymptomatic.

According to sampling, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are Aysén, O’Higgins, Antofagasta and Tarapacá.

Meanwhile, the Atacama region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Los Ríos, Aysén and Ñuble.

According to today’s report, of the 1,428 new cases of COVID-19, 948 correspond to symptomatic people and 115 do not present symptoms. In addition, 365 Positive PCR tests were registered that were not notified.

The total number of people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the country reaches 5,128,130. Of this total, 4,514 patients are in the active stage, considering a 5-day isolation from the onset of symptoms or from taking the test, according to the Opening phase criteria. The recovered cases are 5,040,401.

Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS), in the last 24 hours, 20 deaths were registered due to causes associated with COVID-19. The total number of deaths amounts to 63,895 in the country.

As of yesterday, 107 people were hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 83 remained with mechanical ventilation support. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 312 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are located.

Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, yesterday the results of 11,312 PCR tests and antigen tests were reported, reaching a total of 48,189,957 analyzed nationwide to date. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 7.93% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 7.55%.
