If it was finally said that an opening around Easter would be possible, the federal government now wants to wait a little longer and gave an opening perspective for April – the Chancellor did not have more in his luggage for the cultural industry on Monday. Most recently, there was slight hope that the cultural scene would open up earlier, with the hope that gastronomy would be the driving force.
Easter Festival stick to plans
The Easter Festival in the state capital should take place from April 2nd to 5th, but with the announcements of the federal government it is still unclear whether events will be possible again at the beginning of April. Nevertheless, the Easter Festival is sticking to its plans for the time being. “There is a sentence that says you have no chance of using it – we know that the rules are constantly changing and therefore you can only accept the challenge of change and then react at short notice,” says the managing director of the Easter Festival , Nikolaus Bachler.
CoV measures: Easter Festival is still waiting
After the announcement of the new CoV measures, it remains open for the cultural sector whether the Easter Festival can take place at the beginning of April or not. For the cultural sector, the press conference on Monday caused even more confusion, says the umbrella association of Salzburg cultural sites.

The hope of opening at Easter has become as little as the demands of cultural workers for clarity about when and under what conditions an opening will be possible, says Thomas Randisek, from the Salzburg Cultural Centers umbrella association. “Instead of clarity, there is even more confusion. Virtually everything has been postponed that simply doesn’t help us in terms of planning security and possible opening. Ultimately, this means that culture has once again been put on the back burner and we have to wait at least until April again until there are clear regulations, ”says Randisek.
In view of the currently increasing incidence, one understands that an immediate opening is not possible, so Randisek further. At least one hoped for a perspective to plan openings. But without a clear perspective, you have to wait for it – both for the organizers and for the audience.
