Cousin of Woman Found Dead in Bronx Storage Container Interrogated – NBC New York

Investigators have identified the body found in a storage container left on a Bronx sidewalk as an East Harlem woman reported missing earlier this week, and the person of interest in the death investigation is a cousin of the victim. two top New York City Police officials said Saturday.

Charges against the cousin are pending as officials await autopsy results on Nisaa Walcott, the 35-year-old mother who was found Friday afternoon inside a plastic container. Authorities noted that the container was left across the street from 950 University Avenuein the section Highbridge from the Bronx.

Officials also said video reviewed by detectives appears to show the cousin at Walcott’s building in East Harlem pulling out a large plastic container around 12:00 a.m. Friday. A second individual can be seen in the video helping to transport the container and unload it at the Bronx address where Walcott was found, senior officials said.

The location is where a storage facility dumps unwanted items, according to a law enforcement source.

Friends of the East Harlem woman were devastated to learn what happened to Walcott, who leaves behind a teenage son.

“She was a beautiful person, a hard worker, she was a single mom, she was an entrepreneur, she worked hard and she didn’t deserve this,” said Walcott’s friend, Luz Dr. Oz.

A man who frequents the place to find things he can resell was the person who made the gruesome find after seeing a leg. The container with the body did not appear to be connected to the storage facility, a source said.

The investigation is still active and the cause of death has not been determined at this time.
