Court takes extra time for ruling on suspension of F1 GP Zandvoort permit for nitrogen

The judge in Haarlem takes an extra day to rule on the summary proceedings brought by environmental club ‘Mobilization for the Environment’ of environmental activist Johan Vollenbroek. He states that nitrogen emissions would be too high and wants to try with the environmental club to have the nature permit for the F1 GP of Zandvoort suspended.

If that happens, it may have immense consequences for the Grand Prix that is scheduled for next weekend at the renovated circuit in the dunes.

Last week the judge said the decision will be a difficult one and that time had to be taken to make a ruling. The verdict would preferably follow Monday, but no later than Tuesday. Today it is announced that the judge still needs another day to weigh the cases.

According to MOB, the law does not allow a deterioration of nature and states that this would be the case if the Dutch Grand Prix goes ahead. The race could continue without support act (F3 and Porsche Supercup) and without the presence of the public, the environmental club said in court. No one else sees any good in that.

The verdict will be published on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 PM.
