Court reverses the Bram Moszkowicz bankruptcy

The Leeuwarden court of appeal has set aside the bankruptcy of former criminal lawyer Bram Moszkowicz, says his lawyer Herman Loonstein. The court does not want to respond to the content of the judgment and says that the judgment will be published tomorrow.

Moszkowicz became mid-December at the request of the tax authorities, among others personally declared bankrupt. He appealed against this.

According to The Telegraph it appears from the judgment of the court that Moszkowicz recently repaid its total tax liability. The tax authorities would therefore no longer oppose the annulment of the bankruptcy. Lawyer Loonstein does not want to say anything about this to the NOS for privacy reasons, but says that the Court of Appeal has ruled that there was no reason to maintain bankruptcy.

Moszkowicz wants to be a lawyer again

Due to his bankruptcy, Moszkowicz was unable to dispose of his own money or possessions in recent weeks. His attempt to get back to work as a lawyer was also hopeless. He had submitted a request for this to the Bar Association in November. “As long as you are bankrupt, you cannot be a lawyer,” says Loonstein.

Moszkowicz (59) was definitively ‘removed from the tableau’ in 2013, as a result of which he can no longer work as a lawyer. There were several reasons for this: he allowed himself to pay large amounts in cash without reporting this and his business operations and administration were not in order.

Since then, Moszkowicz has worked as a legal adviser at a law firm in Hilversum. He also often appeared in the media as a criminal law expert and was for some time active in politics.
