Separate lawsuits were filed in December by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and regulators from 48 U.S. states and territories.

The claims said that Facebook had tried to suppress competition by acquiring the Instagram platform in 2012 and WhatsApp in 2014.

Judge James Bousbergs said the FTC’s action did not provide enough evidence to claim that Facebook had a monopoly on the personal social networking market.

The state’s lawyer, on the other hand, rejected the claim because too long has passed since 2012, when Facebook bought Instagram, and since 2014, when it bought WhatsApp.

Both platforms have become important elements of Facebook’s business and have been integrated into its technology.
