With the decision of the court, Bharatsingh’s cancellation at the end of last year has become final. The highest disciplinary court for the legal profession accuses Bharatsingh of using information that he collected in his role as accountant for the Utrecht painting company Van Leur when an internal conflict arose at this family business.
Lawyer Bharatsingh was hired by one of the parties four years ago after a conflict arose between the sister and brother of the painting company over the course of events surrounding the division of the company, following the death of their father in 2017.
Blatant violation
Even when they complained to Bharatsingh several times there, he did not retire as a lawyer. “Given his attitude, the scope and duration of the relationship of trust built up with the complainants (35 years) and the blatant violation of the core value of integrity, only a serious disciplinary measure is appropriate,” the court writes.
When imposing the deletion, the court reports that it took into account its extensive disciplinary past. Over the past fourteen years, Bharatsingh has received sixteen well-founded disciplinary complaints, seven of which resulted in a definitive suspension. The court therefore states in its decision: “The disciplinary past shows that there is a structural and incorrigible pattern of behavior of improper conduct. The removal measure is then the only correct measure. ”
Tineke Verburg
Bharatsingh (59), who was sworn in as a lawyer in 1998 and became known in recent years as counsel for alleged black savers, appealed against his removal. In his defense he argued, among other things, that he would have been coached for the last year by Tineke Verburg, TROS television presenter who died last June. Her son recently stated that this statement was implausible, since she was much too weak to work in her last year of life. From research of the AvroTros television program Scammed?!, would also turn out that Bharatsingh falsified her statement as a coach after her death.
In any case, the disciplinary judge found her statement to be too general, and therefore ignored it.
