Police wanted to ban demonstration – court sees it differently

The law enforcement officers banned the event at the Heumarkt on Friday and justified this with clear indications of a tightened security situation. However, the court did not follow the police’s argument and allowed the demo, in which 100 participants were registered. Police Chief Falk Schnabel called on the participants to be calm.

Police “with strong forces on site”

Shortly before the start of the demonstration, which was permitted again at short notice, a few dozen pro-Palestine demonstrators were at the Heumarkt on Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, the pro-Israel demo with around 200 people was already taking place on the other side of the square. “We have strong forces on site and will prevent any problems from occurring,” said a police spokesman.
