Today, in three Latvian cities – Riga, Jelgava and Jurmala – every inhabitant of Latvia will have the opportunity to be vaccinated, said Agnese Strazda, a representative of the Vaccination Project Bureau.
There will be a vaccination point in Riga at the “ATTA” center at 60 Krasta Street, in Jelgava – at the Zemgale Olympic Center at 24 Kronvalda Street and in Jūrmala – at the Jūrmala Sports School at Nometņu Street 2b.
Vaccination in these cities will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Before the operation of the large vaccination center at the “ATTA” center in Riga, more than 350 people are waiting for the opportunity to receive their vaccine against Covid-19, the agency LETA observed. Due to the great interest of people, vaccination against Covid-19 in the “ATTA” center started before 9 o’clock
People started gathering at the vaccination center after 7 o’clock, but after a few minutes their number had already reached 12. People continued to come and take their place in the queue. At 8.10 the number of people in the queue had already increased to 250 people.
Before the start of the large vaccination center at the Zemgale Olympic Center in Jelgava, a little more than 100 people were waiting for the opportunity to receive their vaccine against Covid-19.
Around 10 o’clock in Riga, near the “ATTA” center, about 600 people were waiting in line outside, who want to get a pot against Covid-19, the agency LETA observed.
The Vaccination Project Office, for its part, informs that 380 residents have already entered the vaccination center.
LETA has already reported that in the morning in the row after Covid-19 vaccine “ATTA” in the center may have to stand for up to an hour and a half. Due to the great interest of people, vaccination against Covid-19 at the “ATTA” center in Riga started even before the start of official working hours at 9 am.
Vaccination will be carried out with AstraZeneca’s vaccines, and residents will be able to receive the vaccine on arrival at large-scale vaccination centers in the city.
Citizens who belong to one of the already opened priority groups will be invited to a special line for them, no additional proof of compliance with the priority group will be required. A special line at a particular location will allow you to receive the vaccine more quickly than other people who want to be vaccinated.
According to the office, the other people who want to be vaccinated will be directed to the second line. Vaccination will have a pre-determined amount of vaccine in each city. Once the vaccines have been used up, the vaccination center will close on that day.
On Saturday, vaccination points in Riga will operate in the “ATTA” center and Ķīpsalas hall, Ķīpsalas street 8. At the same time, points will be open in Jelgava Zemgale Olympic Center, Jūrmala Sports School, Cēsis former Super Netto store at Bērzaines Street 2a and Liepāja – Olympic Center at Brīvības Street 39 There will also be a vaccination point in Daugavpils sports complex at Parādes Street 7 and in Rēzekne – Latgale Embassy “Gors”.
On Sunday, April 18, the centers will be opened in Cesis in the premises of the former “Super Netto” store and in Daugavpils Sports Complex.
The Minister of Health Daniels Pavļuts (AP) emphasizes that this weekend the principle of free queues envisages that every inhabitant of Latvia can come to be vaccinated with the manufacturer’s “AstraZeneca” vaccine.
On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, in the large vaccination centers in these cities, residents will have the opportunity to be vaccinated outside the usual priority group principle, although the population of priority groups is planned to be directed to a separate line. “We have been actively addressing the population of the priority groups in these cities, but the balance of AstraZeneca vaccines allows other residents to be vaccinated immediately,” the minister explains.
According to him, this would ensure the use of vaccines already delivered to vaccination institutions and the development of immunity in the society in a short time. “At present, we have ensured that other vaccination institutions have received the required vaccines from the latest supplies in such an amount as to continue the vaccination of the population of the priority groups,” the Minister notes.
Vaccination will be unannounced and any resident who arrives at the center by the time and time the vaccines become available will be vaccinated. Residents only need to bring a passport or ID card.
Each center plans to use between 390 and 2,500 doses of vaccine, and the amount of vaccine depends on the size of the center and the amount of vaccine available to the vaccinator. Residents are encouraged to come to the vaccination gradually, throughout the day. Residents are especially asked to observe a distance of two meters and to use nose and mouth covers.
In order to ensure a successful vaccination process throughout the next week, residents are invited to come and join the live queue only if no vaccination time is already planned in another vaccination office during the next week.
In case of questions about the operation of the centers, residents are invited to contact the free information vaccination phone number 8989.
