Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) Reveals Critical Reasoning in Russian Figure Skater Kamila Valieva’s Doping Case

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) published on its official website the reasoning part of the case of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva.

The document criticizes the Russian athlete’s version that prohibited substances entered her body as a result of eating strawberry dessert. The figure skater’s defense argued that her grandfather Gennady Solovyov prepared the dessert on the same cutting board that he used to grind heart medicine.

Section 140 of the document contains a statement from RUSADA, which claims that Valieva’s lawyers were unable to prove this fact. Moreover, they could not prove the very existence of the grandfather.

Let us remind you that the Russian figure skater was disqualified for four years for violating anti-doping rules after a positive doping test taken on December 25, 2021, on the day of the free program of the Russian Championship.
