The court will deal with a number of requests from Ridouan Taghi behind closed doors, as requested by his lawyer. Apart from the court, prosecutors, his attorney and security people, no one is allowed to be present in the courtroom and know what it is about.
Taghi’s lawyer Inez Weski had asked that the requests she makes on behalf of her client be handled behind closed doors. She wants to protect Taghi’s privacy. The Public Prosecution Service had opposed this wish.
Ridouan Taghi (42) is the prime suspect in the Marengo trial, over a series of underworld killings. Sixteen suspects are on trial in addition to Taghi. Today is the last day of three pro forma hearings in the extra secure court at Schiphol. Taghi is not present in person.
Taghi will apprehended in December in Dubai. He had been a fugitive for years. After his arrest, he was transferred to the Netherlands and since then he has been in custody in the extra security prison in Vught.
