Court dismisses challenge to Trump’s census plan

The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a challenge to President Donald Trump’s plan to exclude unauthorized people in the country from the population count used to assign states their number of seats in the House of Justice as premature. Representatives.

However, the decision is not the final ruling on the matter and it is unclear whether Trump will receive the final figures from the Census Bureau before his term ends in January.

The court said it was premature to rule on the legality of the plan because it is not clear how many people it wants to exclude and whether it would affect the allocation of seats in the lower house.

“Consistent with our determination that no interest has been shown to act and that the case is not mature, we do not express a position on the merit of the constitutional and legal claims presented. We only maintain that they are not suitable to pass judgment at this time ”, he sentenced.

In a dissent, the three non-conservative Court justices said it is illegal to try to exclude people from the country’s population when allocating seats.

“I think this court should say so,” wrote Judge Stephen Breyer, who were joined by Judges Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor.
