Working as a lawyer with “copy-paste” briefs is not particularly difficult, the Regional Court of Munich II decided and rejected a particularly high demand for fees. Instead of the requested 1461 euros, the lawyer is only entitled to the normal fee of 958 euros in this case, the court decided in a judgment published on Friday. (Az: 10 O5088 / 19)

The Berlin lawyer had represented a diesel driver from Altomünster in Bavaria in a claim for damages against VW. For the particular difficulty and scope of his work, he asked for a fee. According to the judgment of the judges, however, he had not conducted any file study for the specific case, but only sent out standard pleadings that were apparently automatically generated. There was never personal contact between the plaintiff and the lawyer. That is not a particularly extensive or difficult legal activity, the chamber decided.
