Firstly, because the so-called “summer fairy tale” process has failed. It was about the 2006 World Cup in Germany. In the picture the OC Presidium: Wolfgang Niersbach, Theo Zwanziger, Franz Beckenbauer and Horst R. Schmidt (from left).

In addition, there are still massive allegations of a meeting with FIFA boss Gianni Infantino.

On May 13, the judicial commission of the National Council and the Council of States spoke about the personnel Michael Lauber (54). BLICK knows: The topic is to remove the federal prosecutor from the office.
–
The application to send Lauber to the desert has not yet been submitted. But everyone wants to get rid of him. The only question is who gets his hands dirty and demands the exit.
–
Commissioners expect Sibel Arslan (39) to file for impeachment. The green member of the National Council, however, keeps a low profile: “It is a valid option for me to apply for the removal.”
–
SP side support
National Councilor Matthias Aebischer (52) says: «I support an application for impeachment. But I will not submit one myself. » He was against re-election last year, but was unsuccessful. “I accept that and therefore I don’t ask for a dismissal.”
–
The judicial commission (GK) had already recommended last year not to confirm Lauber in his office. He was narrowly re-elected in the fall.
–
Because the federal prosecutor has made himself impossible: he met the top of the worldfootball association several times at unrecorded meetings – all FIFA procedures now threaten to fail. Lauber undermined the disciplinary investigation of the supervision of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office (AB-BA) and, according to the latter, repeatedly said the untruth. The AB-BA accuses him of being guilty of a breach of official duty.
–
“Omertà”
Neither Lauber nor the others present want to remember the third meeting with Fifa boss Gianni Infantino (50) and two or three other people at the Bernese Hotel Schweizerhof in June 2017 – and the Federal Prosecutor never seriously tried to clarify this meeting.
–
If the Federal Prosecutor’s Office (BA) had any indications that four or five mafios were gathering for an important meeting in the noble hotel, the staff would be interviewed there, booking documents would be viewed, bills checked and recordings from surveillance cameras evaluated. You would do anything to learn about the content of the conversation.
–
10 million francs flowed
And what did the top Swiss investigator do to shed light on his meetings? “Nothing!” Says the judicial commission. There is a kind of “omertà”, a duty of confidentiality like that of criminal organizations. Lauber is said to have instructed his authority to stand still.
–
An impact of Lauber’s behavior at the top of the BA manifests itself on Monday: Then the Fifa procedure with the internationally most prominent representatives of the football circus officially bursts. The so-called summer fairy tale case is then time-barred. Internationally, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office is now suspected of being under one roof with the WorldFootball Association.
–
Hess accuses Lauber of misconduct
BDP deputy Lorenz Hess (58) does not turn his heart into a killer pit: “The judicial commission has a duty towards the citizens to react to a federal prosecutor who, through his misconduct, contributes to the crash of court cases.”
–
And CVP National Councilor Nicolo Paganini (53) doubly: What has just happened in the summer fairy tale process is «embarrassing». Paganini is also tasked with considering the impeachment.
–
FDP members want to wait for judgment
Lauber defends himself before the Federal Administrative Court against the AB-BA judgment that Lauber was guilty of a breach of official duty, which is why his wages should be reduced. The FDP national councilor Susanne Vincenz-Stauffacher (53) is disappointed with the behavior of the federal attorney. However, like her liberal colleague and Councilor of States Andrea Caroni (40), she wants to wait for the judgment of the court before the impeachment begins.
–
Commission President Caroni expects that the judgment will be available in six months. If Lauber moves it to the Federal Supreme Court, it will take a year for a final judgment.
