Berlin (dpa/bb) – The music festival Young Euro Classic in Berlin has made a focus on the Ukraine war for this year’s edition with “Courage in Concert”. According to information from Tuesday, young musicians and authors from Ukraine as well as from the neighboring countries of Georgia, Uzbekistan and Estonia will be presented. Because of its geography and history, the effects of the Russian invasion were particularly felt there.
The 24th edition of the summer festival in the Konzerthaus Berlin, which runs from Friday to August 27th, will host not only 15 orchestras from Europe, Cuba and Asia, but also two jazz big bands. Ballet, chamber music and literature are also on the programme. The young people use “the sound of the orchestra as an expression of the desire for peace and freedom,” said the artistic director of the festival, Dieter Rexroth, in a statement.
