Couple Celebrates Love: Emer Murphy and Spencer Trigg Tie the Knot After Nine Years Together

In a heartwarming celebration of love, Emer Murphy from Cork and Spencer Trigg from the UK exchanged vows this summer, marking nearly a decade since their fateful meeting in Portugal in 2015. The couple’s romantic journey unfolded across borders, culminating in a beautiful wedding at the iconic Castlemartyr Resort in East Cork, where they hosted friends and family from around the world.

A Journey of Love Over the Years

Emer and Spencer’s love story began on May 29, 2015, when they first crossed paths while traveling in Portugal. Reflecting on their shared journey, Emer noted, "I relocated to the UK after a year together," underlining the couples’ commitment to each other despite geographical distances. Oliver and Hugo, their twin sons born in 2018, symbolize the couple’s growing family and shared dreams.

During a memorable trip to the Amalfi Coast to celebrate Emer’s 40th birthday, the couple got engaged in Pompeii, setting the stage for the next significant chapter in their lives — their wedding day, coinciding with their nine-year anniversary on May 29, 2024.

A Magical Wedding at Castlemartyr Resort

Choosing the stunning Castlemartyr Resort as their wedding venue was no coincidence. Emer recalls, "After much consideration, we decided on the beautiful Castlemartyr Resort for our wedding. The grounds, the Manor House, and the ballroom are just magnificent." With guests flying in from various locations, including the UK and Dubai, the wedding became a global gathering of love and celebration.

The ceremony itself was held outdoors, featuring a picturesque backdrop of the resort’s scenic grounds, with the fountain serving as a focal point. Emer shared a touching sentiment about the day’s emotions, stating, "I walked down the aisle with my twin sons Jude and Hugo to my mum’s favourite song, ‘Something’s Got A Hold Of My Heart’ by Gene Pitney. My mum passed away 10 years ago this year, so it was very emotional."

In a touching family moment, Emer’s father, who has limited mobility, took over and gave her away to Spencer at the top of the aisle, creating a heartfelt memory for all in attendance.

Elegance and Personal Touches

Emer’s stunning bridal attire reflected her unique style and personal touches. The gown, designed by Alexandra Grecco and purchased at the White and Gold boutique in Kinsale, complemented her Jimmy Choo shoes. Adding to her bridal ensemble were pearl earrings from her mother-in-law, a veil borrowed from her sister-in-law, and "something blue" flowers designed by the talented Maura from Petals. Hair and makeup were expertly crafted by Cathyanne Bridal and Lizzy Desmond, respectively.

Bridesmaids, consisting of Emer’s two sisters and her niece, wore elegant Needle and Thread dresses, while Spencer donned a self-designed suit tailored by William Young in the UK. Their twin sons proudly served as page boys, alongside Emer’s four nieces who fulfilled the role of flower girls.

Adding to the evening’s festivities, the couple’s first dance was set to "My Head Is A Jungle," the MK remix, a song that resonates with their relationship. With musical performances by the ceremony singer Deborah Murphy and the energetic band The Riff Shop, the event truly came alive with warmth and joy.

Capturing the Moment

The celebration was documented beautifully, with photographers Ray and Irene Terry capturing fleeting moments of joy, while Gordon from WedFilms recorded the day, ensuring every detail was preserved for the couple’s cherished memories.

Emer and Spencer’s love story is a testament to love’s power to endure and flourish over time. Their wedding was not just a culmination of their journey thus far, but a bright new beginning as they continue to build their life together in Berkhamsted, England.

As Emer reflected on the significance of the day, it serves both as a joyful reminder of their journey and a hopeful outlook for the future. Love, after all, knows no borders—only the beautiful experiences it shapes along the way.
