KINGMAN, Arizona (AP) – A couple wanted in connection with murder cases in Arizona and Nevada were found dead in a desert area southeast of Kingman, authorities say.
Mohave County Sheriff investigators said the bodies of Hunter McGuire, 26, and his girlfriend, Samantha Branek, 32, were found next to each other on Friday with blow injuries to the head.
Lake Havasu City police say it appears McGuire took his own life, but it’s unclear whether Branek’s injury was self-inflicted. The county coroner’s office will determine an official cause of death.
The couple were wanted in connection with a double murder in Kingman on June 28, authorities said.
They said McGuire was also considered a suspect in Monday’s fatal shooting of a woman in Las Vegas.
Branek’s car was reportedly seen at a truck stop in Yucca and Friday led to a high-speed chase followed by a four-hour standoff before police found the couple dead.
Authorities said other investigations into murders possibly related to McGuire have been investigated.
