Couple severely assaulted by group of eight men in Leeuwarden | Inland

A woman and her boyfriend cycled through the Ruiterskwartier past the group of men. Something was shouted from the group, to which the friend responded.

The group then began to hit the man and the woman was also hit in the head and briefly lost consciousness. The man was transferred to the MCL with leg injuries, among other things. He hasn’t filed a report yet, but the woman has.

Police are looking for witnesses to the assault.

Third serious assault in one weekend

Earlier this weekend, two serious assaults took place in the center of Leeuwarden: in the night from Friday to Saturday, there was a serious assault on the Zaailand, near the stairs at the courthouse. The victim of the assault was taken to hospital and later filed a report.

A fight took place in the Ruiterskwartier in the night from Saturday to Sunday. An 18-year-old and a 21-year-old resident of the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel have been arrested for aggravated assault.
