Couple Pursued by Man Who Stabbed Man in Manhattan Subway Station – NBC New York

NEW YORK — A 47-year-old man and his wife were terrified by a knife-wielding man who spat on them in the Manhattan subway on Wednesday, then flashed the gun, slashed the man and chased them down the station stairs before that they could get help, police say.

The couple were on a northbound 2 train just before 3 p.m. when police say the stranger began arguing with them. It was not clear what the discussion was about, but he got off the train on Wall Street.

The pair went to get off at the same stop, which is when the suspect spat in their direction, police say. They were all on the platform when he showed them a knife and then slashed the husband once on the right arm.

The pair ran up the stairs from the platform to the mezzanine with their attacker, who had chased them, close behind. She ran away when she saw her husband approach the transit booth attendant for help. The husband was taken to a hospital, where he received stitches for the laceration on his arm. His wife was not injured.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (English), or for Spanish at 1-888-57-PISTA.
