The accident happened on the regional road N60 in the direction of Oudenaarde near the intersection with Pontstraat. A couple was about to enter the N60 towards Oudenaarde, when their car was hit by a car coming from Ronse.

The blow was terrible. The man and woman in the first car, a couple from the neighborhood, died on the spot. The man from Ronse, who was behind the wheel of the other car, was rushed to Oudenaarde General Hospital. He is in mortal danger. Fragments of the cars are scattered tens of meters.

As a result of the accident, the N60 in the direction of Oudenaarde is closed to all traffic. The East Flanders Public Prosecutor’s Office will send a traffic expert on site to investigate the circumstances of the serious traffic accident.
