The Française des Jeux group donated the sum of 53,041,075 euros to the winning couple who won the Euromillions jackpot on Friday May 5 in Martinique. They are becoming thus the biggest winners of the island but also of the whole of the West Indies and Guyana.
These are players loyal to Loto and Euromillions, who have validated a grid for each draw for more than ten years. Very recently, Monsieur, who takes care of setting up the grids, changed his favorite combination. “It’s only the second time I’ve played these numbers; I had the feeling that my previous combination did not bring us luck »he says.
A few days after the draw, he goes to a point of sale to have his game receipt checked. Without knowing the exact amount, he understands that he must contact the FDJ teams for the payment of the prize. It is then by telephone that the couple is announced the sum of more than 53 million euros. “My husband immediately realized the magnitude of the gain, but I,
I understood fifty-three thousand euros”declares Madame, amused.
The lucky winners have already announced the big news to a couple of close friends but are waiting for the right moment to share it with the children. “It’s a major event in our lives; we struggled a lot and the wheel is now turning,” they rejoice.
While awaiting their payment in the Paris region, the precious ticket was stored under a pile of towels in the bathroom cabinet.
The projects of the couple in their fifties are numerous. In particular, they want to create local businesses in order to generate employment. “It is essential for us to offer professional opportunities to the inhabitants of the island”, they specify. They want to leave their respective jobs as employees and workers to devote themselves to this project.
They also plan to acquire a main and secondary residence, to travel in the Caribbean, to afford a car each, but above all to help their loved ones.
“In the meantime, our priority is to celebrate the news with a champagne aperitif,” they conclude, with a broad smile on their lips.
