A couple from Barendrecht won the Holland Casino Christmas jackpot on Friday evening. As a result, the two became 1.5 million euros richer in one fell swoop.
It is the highest jackpot of this year, Holland Casino reports. The amount was won just before midnight in Venlo.
The couple’s 51-year-old wife played on one of the Mega Millions slot machines, which are linked nationally. “I’m dreaming and I hope I don’t wake up,” the winner responded.
Champagne was distributed in the casino. The couple will return on Saturday to treat everyone to pie, the casino manager says.
It is the second jackpot of more than 1 million euros this year in Venlo. In August the jackpot of more than 1.1 million euros fell.
