NEW YORK – A Colombian actor and his wife, a well-known businesswoman, were the victims of an armed robbery on a highway connecting New York with New Jersey. The robbery was recorded by witnesses.
The victims, Colombian actor Carrell Lasso and his wife, famed businesswoman Mildia Francisco, were inside the vehicle at dawn Dec. 27 after leaving an event in Upper Manhattan.
The couple were at exit 7S of the New Jersey Freeway when two masked and armed people got out of the back of a black Mercedes Benz that stopped in front of them. Only her eyes were visible.
“One came from his side and the other came from my side and put the gun to my head. they told us ‘open the door, open the door.’ When I opened the door he says: ‘where is the money? Where’s the money'” the victim of the robbery, Carrell Lasso, told Telemundo 47.
“With the gun always on my head and I told them I have no money”, Francis added.
The attack was recorded by witnesses and the victims still describe the moment with fear and highlight the danger in the streets.
“If I’m still feeling scared, I don’t want to go to New York, I don’t want to go out in the car, I always look back, I drive around several times before I go home“Francis said.
“As if the whole life came to my mind and I thought we should give more value to life, more togetherness, understanding why life can be lost at some point“.
It was not detailed whether they took any property or money from the car. Nobody was hurt.
No arrests have yet been reported and the case remains under investigation.
