The calendar of Ligue 2 teams could be shaken up in December. There is indeed uncertainty around the Coupe de France, at a standstill because of confinement. The matches of the sixth round could not be disputed because of the prohibition of amateur athletes to practice their competition. However, the professionals of Ligue 2 must enter the competition in the eighth round, scheduled for December 12 and 13.
“The elimination of the Coupe de France is not on the agenda. We will find solutions, we have time”, wanted to reassure Noël Le Graët, the president of the French Football Federation, in the columns of the Parisian, lately. If the confinement ends on December 1, as initially planned, amateur teams will certainly have the opportunity to play the missing rounds and the initial schedule should be able to be held.
On the other hand, an extension of the confinement would cause a real headache. Because a postponement of the 8th round would imply an adjustment of the calendar of professional clubs, already busy in December and January. Ligue 1 clubs would also be concerned, since they must make their entry into the 32nd final, between January 1 and 3. And as the championship days are scheduled in December and January, and the 16th and 8th are also scheduled in the first of the year, there is little room for maneuver to avoid disruption if the 8th round is not played at the scheduled time.
