Gabonese President Ali Bongo is under house arrest and one of his sons has been arrested for “high treason”. This was announced on August 30 by France24 TV channel.
“President Ali Bongo is under house arrest surrounded by his family and doctors,” the military junta said in a statement, which was read on state television.
It is noted that on Wednesday evening, three days after the completion of voting in the presidential and parliamentary elections in Gabon, the Internet will be restored.
The government had previously disabled access to the network to “prevent the spread of false news and possible violence.”
Hundreds took to the streets of the country’s capital, Libreville, to cheer for the regime change.

Recall that on the morning of August 30, a group of military men on the air of public television in Gabon announced the removal from power of President Ali Bongo, who has been leading the country for 14 years and was re-elected for a third term on August 26.
They announced that they would annul the results of the elections and dissolve all the universities of the republic. The country’s borders were temporarily closed.
