County Road Network Update and Impact of Storm

During the county preparedness meeting held on Tuesday afternoon, transport manager Aud M. Riseng gave an update on the county road network.

– We have a continuous crisis staff. It has taken off today, Riseng said.

She stated that over 50 county roads have been closed. As of 2.30 p.m., over 45 sections of county road are closed.

During the meeting alone, Riseng received three or four new notifications, and she stated that it was difficult to get an overview

– We have our full share of setting up roadblocks and getting the overview, she said.

An employee in the county was trapped between two landslides on Tuesday.

Riseng also stated during the meeting that it is doubtful that there will be any repairs to the county roads before the weekend.

Will take days

In a press release, Riseng states that it will take several days after the storm is over before the county council gets an overview of all the points on the road network that have been damaged by the storm.

– Now we use all the resources we have to close roads that are affected by floods or landslides quickly, so that no one gets hurt. As far as possible, the operating contractors repair minor damage in order to open the roads. But it will take a long time before we get all the roads repaired and reopened, says Riseng.
