County offers free flu shot clinics

Free flu shot clinics are offered throughout Montgomery County for people at least six months old.

High-dose flu vaccine for people 65 and older is available on a first-come, first-served basis at county clinics.

“I encourage everyone to get a flu shot this season,” said County Executive Elrich. “This is one of the easiest and most effective ways to protect yourself, your family and those around you.”

Immunization clinics will be held:

October 16 and 23 from 2pm to 6pm at Shady Grove Colleges, 9630 Gudelsky Drive, Building II Rockville. Schedule a desire for anyone six months of age or older. These two clinics are a partnership between Montgomery County Health and Human Services and the University of Maryland System.

October 19th from 10am to 2pm at the World Health Community Health Fair at Clifton Baptist Church 8818 Piney Branch Road, Silver Spring. Table one desire for anyone six months of age or older.

Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sri Lanka Community Buddhist Temple 2600 Elmont St., Silver Spring. Schedule a desire for anyone six months of age or older.

Nov. 4, 9 and 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dennis Avenue Health Center 2000 Dennis Ave., Silver Spring. Schedule a desire for anyone six months of age or older.

School-age children up to age 18 can also get a flu shot at the weekly vaccination clinic on Tuesdays from 8:30 am to 4 pm at the Dennis Avenue Health Center. Positions are required. Call 240-777-1050.

In addition to getting the vaccine, the county recommends that people cover their mouth and nose with a tissue when they cough or sneeze and then throw the tissue away . If there is no substance, sneeze into the inside of your elbow.

Other recommendations include washing your hands often, avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth, and staying away from anyone who is sick. Stay home when you don’t feel well.
