Today, the county councils in Troms and Finnmark will be full again when Ronald Wærnes (Sp) becomes the new county council for economics, language and culture. Wærnes comes from the position as mayor of Båtsfjord municipality.
Agnete Masternes Hanssen (Labor Party) will be the new county councilor for transport, the county municipality writes in a press release. Masternes Hanssen sits on the central board of AUF and has previously been county secretary for AUF in Finnmark. Until today, she has worked as a nurse in Porsanger municipality.
There will also be some changes in the areas of responsibility for the sitting county councils. County councilor Karin Eriksen (Sp) takes over the political responsibility for planning matters, and thus becomes county councilor for planning, industry and the environment, while county councilor Bjarne Rohde (SV) continues with the same political portfolio (education), but changes his title to county councilor for knowledge and integration .
In addition, Randi Lillegård (Labor Party) is appointed new political adviser to the county council leader. She is taking leave from her position as county secretary for the Labor Party in Troms.
– I am very happy to have the team in place, and that we have a new and strong team that will work for the future in our region. A region which unfortunately is also characterized by an increasing and high average age of the inhabitants in many municipalities. That is why it is with extra great pleasure that I present an experienced 25-year-old as the new county councilor, and that we get young people involved in governing our society. The new county council will build a policy in the future, and then we must have the young people with us in the decision-making processes, says county council leader Bjørn Inge Mo (Labor).
