The new vaccine should arrive in two weeks to address covid cases, which continue to increase. So far this year, 2024, Health authorities have reported nine deaths, including a three-month-old baby.

“We are ordering more than 160 thousand doses of the super vaccine; then more will come,” she said.
It is called the super vaccine because it covers more strains of the virus, Sucre commented, reiterating that cases will continue to increase, since the Mil Polleras parade and carnivals are coming, but then they should decrease.
Despite the projection of the increase in those affected, for the moment, according to the official, suspending any activity, such as carnivals, is not being analyzed.
He reminded people over 60 to go get their vaccine and to wear a mask if they have any cold symptoms.
What will the logistics be like? According to Minsa personnel, the vaccination plan will be announced once the doses arrive.
It will be communicated when it will be, the places, the ages and if the vaccination will be carried out by neighborhood.
Currently, the health regions are working and putting together their strategy to apply the new dose, and it will depend on the contagion rate of each region.

A Minsa report revealed that in epidemiological week No. 1 of 2024, corresponding from Sunday, December 31, 2023 to Saturday, January 6, 2024, 2,680 new positive cases of covid were confirmed.
On the other hand, at the Nueva Esperanza Penitentiary Center in Colón, 13 cases were detected, so the use of masks, mosquito repellents and nebulization have been reinforced to prevent the spread of dengue, among other biosafety measures.
