New Delhi The country has declared support for the players who are continuing their strike for the 15th day against BJP MP and wrestling federation president Brij Bhushan, who sexually assaulted seven women players, including a minor girl. A candle light protest will be held on Sunday at 7 pm demanding Brij Bhushan’s resignation. Pro-wrestlers Bajrang Poonia, Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat appealed to all citizens to participate in the protest. Farmers, students, workers and Khap representatives will march to Jantarmantar on Sunday in solidarity with the stars. Then the Maha Panchayat will meet here. Two committees have been formed to decide the future of the strike. Apart from the stars, the 31-member committee includes representatives of farmers, women’s organizations and Khap. There is another nine-member committee exclusively for those from the wrestling field. Vinesh Phogat warned that the police would create provocation to disrupt the protest and caution was needed. The warning comes in the context of the BJP members who came to the protest site in the guise of journalists and tried to create conflict. Sakshi Malik demanded that the Delhi Police under the control of the central government should be prepared to take a statement under Section 164. They said that they could not approach the High Court as they did not testify. The future of the struggle will be decided by the Maha Panchayat. Police stepped up action to stop the protesters at the Delhi border. Haryana’s BJP Home Minister Anil Bij announced his support to the players. On Saturday, under the leadership of the Mahila Association, five left-wing women’s organizations protested near the venue. Parveen Ahlawad, the Delhi reporter of PTC in Punjab, resigned in protest against the management’s directive not to cover the strike. PTC is a channel controlled by Shiromani Akali Dal.
